The ALERION CLASS SLOOP is a reproduction, in Sanford Boat’s cold molded composite keel construction, of Nathanael Herreshoff’s personal sailboat. She is the worlds best sailboat built exquisitely with the finest material and construction technique.

The ALERION CLASS SLOOP has spawned many imitators--we accept their sincere flattery, but we suggest that you chose the real thing:  beauty is more than skin deep--the performance and quality of the ALERION CLASS SLOOP rests  in Nat Herreshoff’s lines and our construction.

Sanford Boat built 22 ALERION CLASS SLOOPs between 1977 and 1983 in Nantucket. In 1997 construction was started again and today they are built under license from Sanford Boat by Rives Woodworking. Each new ALERION CLASS SLOOP is a little better than the previous one!
